BIO TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

History

The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2001. It offers a restructured course with a combination of zoology and chemistry (B. Sc.,- Bt. Z. C) and with combination of botany and chemistry (B. Sc.,- Bt. B. C) as English is the medium of instruction. Well-equipped laboratory and departmental library are the characteristic features of the department. The faculty has received research grant from UGC in 2015. The Department has conducted recently a UGC-sponsored one day National Workshop on recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology on 21st February 2015.

To provide students with sound knowledge and understanding the theoretical concepts and laboratory practices. To provide quality teaching with strong concepts. To provide application oriented under graduation, which enable them high quality professionals.

Mission

To create a good learning environment To develop academic excellence to increase the employability of students. Regular updation of the curriculum to provide sound knowledge based on the current needs of academia and industry. To utilize ICT and student centric methods in teaching-learning process. Highlighting the recent trends in Biotechnology through organization of conferences and workshops. Motivating students to involve in research activities during the course of study.
